Periodic Table For Visualization Methods

periodictable

This is a more detailed, but not as analytically minded version of the Choosing A Good Chart a document helping choose which chart.

The above version is posted as part from http://www.visual-literacy.org ”Visual Literacy: An E-Learning Tutorial on Visualization for Communication, Engineering and Business”, it covers more than charting and touches into various different information delivery mechanisms.  Very Cleverly Done as the periodic table, completely interactive with examples.

Both are very good reference points for what is possible with data…

“subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound “

Walmart Spread Like Wildfire

This is another amazing visualization using the Walmart data, it started with flowingdata doing a cool visualization, its then morphed into various others, the most recent and also pretty spectacular from MichaelVandaniker and shows the intensity of the spread in the same way as a wildfire spreads.

Amazing work…

Great Visualization Hybrid

I saw one of these on the side of a bus amidst a snowstorm this AM

After some creating googling, I found the images and discovered what its all about…

It is part of some great work by TBWA for the 2009 Grammy Awards, the strapline for the campaign is “Celebrate the Music that Makes Us” and with that in mind here is the advert and the artwork.
